Clinical and Strategic Lead for Personality Disorder
Janet Feigenbaum
I joined NELMHT in August 2003 with the remit to build Personality Disorder services. I was given freedom to design them according to my 'vision', and guess what, the end result is now IMPART.
I feel privileged and ever so lucky to be leading two teams of creative and dynamic staff who enjoy the challenge, with its ups and downs, of working with clients with Personality Disorder. My work with clients with Personality Disorder began in 1991 when I commenced training in clinical psychology. I then further specialized in this area in 1993 when I began working with clients with Personality Disorder in both a local CMHT and a specialist eating disorder unit. I moved to Camden and Islington in 1998 to be part of building and evaluating the Oscar Hill Service, a DBT team. My primary psychotherapeutic approaches are DBT and CBT, and I continue to train and supervise staff in these models.
Although I have lived in the UK for 20 years this year, I have retained my American accent and passport. My hobbies include amateur dramatics (which can be entertaining in therapy!), scuba diving (only in the warm waters near the equator), and baking.
